Day 1: Arrival and Historical Walk

Day 1: Arrival and Historical Walk

• Morning: Arrival in Balvano and check-in at an accommodation in the heart of the village. Departure for the "Il Tesoro delle Api" farm. During the visit to the apiary, you'll discover the fascinating world of bees, observe the hives up close, and learn about the importance of these essential insects for the ecosystem. An expert guide will show you how honey is produced, with the opportunity to taste different varieties and purchase products from the apiary.

• Lunch: Welcome lunch featuring local dishes, including cavatelli, fusilli, and artisanal cured meats.

• Afternoon: Guided walk through the historic center of Balvano. Visit to the Girasole Castle, historic palaces (Palazzo Laspro, Palazzo Lenzi, Palazzo Cecere), and discovery of post-earthquake architecture.

• Evening: Dinner at a local trattoria, where you'll savor the delicacies of rural cuisine, such as sausages, pecorino cheese, and caciocavallo.

• Overnight Stay: In a historic structure with panoramic views of the village.

• Morning: Breakfast and departure for a Hike/Excursion, with the choice between:

• Tour of the Platano Gorges, accompanied by an AIGAE guide, where you'll explore the equipped path leading to the Galleria delle Armi, crossing the scenic Nepalese Bridge with a view of the Platano River Gorge. Hear the story of the Train 8017 tragedy, a historic event that profoundly marks this place.

• Excursion to the Monte Marmo Rotunda, where you can admire a spectacular 360° view extending from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Lucanian towns. An AIGAE guide will accompany you to discover the local flora and fauna.

• Lunch: Panoramic picnic with local products along the route, immersed in pristine nature.

• Afternoon: Continuation of the Hike/Excursion.

• Evening: Return to the village, check-out, and independent return.

Some important conditions and details to be taken into account regarding the availability of the activities included in the package:

• The accommodations have Wi-Fi.

• It is recommended to book at least two weeks in advance to ensure availability.

• It is advisable to bring water, comfortable and practical clothing, and be prepared for significantly cooler evening temperatures.

• If staying at the Agricamping, bring your own tent.

• For trails requiring equipment, the cost is €15 and includes harness and helmet.

• For groups smaller than 5 people, the availability of an AIGAE Guide can be verified.

• The package can be extended to a 2-night stay, with an adjusted price.

Additional Details

• Difficulty of excursions: From easy to medium (suitable for beginners with minimal physical preparation).

• Included in the package: Accommodation, meals as indicated, AIGAE guide, trekking equipment, access to historical attractions, guided tour of the apiary.

• If some activities are unavailable, the experience will be adapted to the cultural and experiential offerings of the period.

In case of cancellation, change or no show, the full amount of the reservation will be charged.

If the cancellation is communicated at least 15 days before the arrival date, it will be possible to recover the trip in another period to be agreed.

During your tour in Balvano, we offer three accommodation options, each with unique features to meet different needs. You can choose between an Agricamping experience (Camping Village) at a cost of €10 per person (on request) or one of the following B&Bs: Villa Reale and Mezzanotte. The stay includes:
